Hello,

I desperately need to migrate a VM from a Proxmox 4.2 LVM storage node to a PV 4.1 local storage node, what is the best practice to achieve this?

In the past i was successful with migration from local storage to local storage nodes because i would just copy over the config and VM image but i found this to be impossible going from LVM storage to local storage.

I considered creating a cluster and doing a live migration but i was told that i could not remove the node from the cluster once this process is completed. Is this true?

Please help me i am in dire need of assistance at this time :(

why don't you use backup + restore?

you can still do this, but it requires a lot of manual fiddling, so backup and restore would be preferred. if you have a big enough local storage on the node with LVM, you can also move the disks from LVM to local and then copy the images around.

I considered creating a cluster and doing a live migration but i was told that i could not remove the node from the cluster once this process is completed. Is this true?

live migration is only for shared storage, not for local storage.
