Good morning,

I have a question about how to manage the storage of my proxmox server, I have a raid 1 of 1TB which are two ssd and then I have a raid 50 of 9TB which are sas disks, the raid I have them by hardware controller (I will not use zfs because I already have the raid made by hardware). What recommendations do you give me for the management of my storage with lvm(logical volume manager).

By default proxmox creates two storages local and local-lvm in local saves the isos, backups and templates. In local-lvm it saves all lxc and qemu.

Is this ok? or could I create another storage only for backups? or only for machines(lxc, qemu)?

What do you recommend? how would you manage the storage?

Normally, you setup a machine the other way around and try to specify the requirements first and then compare the different possibilities to setup the system.

Without knowning what you want to do with this machine is the range of answers from perfect to not going to fly.

In my opinion, you don't need to have templates and iso files (and the OS itself) on SSDs, there is no benefit. The VMs (or parts of the VMs) need to best fast, so you should put them on the SSDs and slower services like fileserver of huge files are best on the spinning rust.
