Hi,

I am trying Proxmox VE server, 1.2 and it seems an amazing application. It works great¡¡¡ Probably I will use it for my production virtual servers

I am trying to use dab to create my own templates but it seems that the package is not available in proxmox1.2 repositories. I couldn´t find it here:
http://download.proxmox.com/debian/dists/lenny/

Will the dab package will be released for proxmox1.2?? or maybe I should install the tar.gz available here?
ftp://download.proxmox.com/sources/

many thanks in advance for any help.

DAB Wiki Page:-
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Debian_Appliance_Builder

DAB is stated to be independant of Proxmox VE version (and Debian Version presumably).

The existing DAB is at
http://download.proxmox.com/debian/dists/etch/pve/binary-amd64/dab_1.1-1_all.deb

It is labeled the same as the earlier Proxmox VE version - 1.1-1 - a cause for ambiguity in discerning dependency.

To be sure, install a Proxmox v1.1 and install DAB and then upgrade to Proxmox v1.2! Experiment directly or wait till Proxmox officially puts a symlink into the lenny folder with the new version as part of the file name and alters the DAB Wiki installation instruction page accordingly.

I just uploaded a new version to the pve repository. Here is the changelog:
Code:
dab (1.1-3) unstable; urgency=low
  * support intrepid and jaunty (patch from Sebastiaan Blommers)
  * apache NO_START is only used by etch

hi,

many thanks for a so kick answer. I could install dab from lenny repositories without problem and it seems to work ok. I could create a basic lenny template following the guide at
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Debian_Appliance_Builder

Right now I am trying to customize this template adding my custom network config, apache configs, vim config, monitoring tools.......etc.....so when I start it it automatically boots with the right config but dab doesn´t seem to have this option, or I couldn´t find it. I have read the dab man pages and I can add all the needed packages to the template but not sure how to modify default configs.

I think I have to follow this how-to:
http://wiki.openvz.org/Debian_template_creation

and it seems to add custom configs I need to boot the VE, as explained here:
http://wiki.openvz.org/Debian_template_creation#Starting_VE

but I couldn´t get it working :( is there any documentation available about how to create a template with custom configs? It would be great to have documentation about how the available virtual appliances are generated, as for example the drupal one or the zenoss one. I think one documented example could help so that we add more virtual appliances to the wiki.

many thanks in advance for any orientation about how to do this in proxmox VE 1.2

see also the man pages:

Code:
man dab

many thanks¡¡¡

I hadn´t downloaded all the example files. Now I have my custom template working great.

The link to example templates was broken in the wiki so I have modified it to point to the right file.
