Greetings,

Kindly suggest a safest method to increase root disk size of a VM (LXC Centos 7 template). I could see an option in control panel to resize the root disk, is it safe todo while VM is online? In VM root disk mounted as /dev/loop9 and mounted on (/).

In Proxmox host the the storage is mounted in /mnt/storage as ext4 fs with Directory type.

Kindly advice on this activity.

Regards,
Shibili

hi,

yes you can safely resize the disk when the VM is running. please note that this will only resize the disk and not the partition, so you will have to extend the partition manually from inside the VM.

How do I resize disk from VM?

/mnt/XYZ/images/109/vm-109-disk-0.raw on / type ext4 (rw,relatime) this is the current device and mounted point from VM. LXC cents template.

oh, i just noticed you're talking about containers and not VM... sorry for confusion.

if you resize the disk of a container on the GUI it should be enough.
