for billing purposes I need the traffic for each VM for one month. How can I do this?

Such data are presented as graphs in GUI and can be displayed by selcting the VM -> Summary "Network traffic".

Source data are collected in /var/lib/rrdcached and can be processed as described in https://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/

You can also use something like LibreNMS to monitor host or/and vm through SNMP.
