How to disable the mouse grab and use local cursor only for VirtViewer?

I notice lag, depending on the console & gpu / display type of the VM, when using virtviewer. It is annoying. What can I do to fix it? I would like to use a local cursor. I've tried both tablet input settings, it seemed to help, but I still had notable lag.

I have seen this, and tried implementing it, but no luck. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

it's a windows 11 VM if that makes a difference!

I'm also using Windows 11 with Spice here.
It doesn't matter whether I use the tablet pointer or not. The mouse always works smoothly.
Regardless of the setting, the Windows 11 remote cursor only is always displayed for me.
