How to configure HA to shut down specific VMs before migration in Proxmox VE 9.1?

Hi everyone,


I’m running Proxmox VE 9.1 with a multi-node HA cluster. Most of my VMs can be live-migrated without issues, but some VMs (due to local storage or other constraints) need to be shut down before migration to avoid errors or data corruption.

Is there a way to configure HA for specific VMs so that they are automatically shut down before migration, rather than attempting a live migration?

That really defeats the primary goal of the HA subsystem. Plus it would only work in a managed migration. As you can imagine on node failure there will be no way to either shutdown or live-migrate the VM. If you are only looking to address managed/manual migration - you likely need to create a script that does what you want outside of the HA subsystem.
