is this configurable like with vzdump/zstd or does it use as much cpu as available ?

Good question. Probably at least 8 threads on the PVE side when "max-workers" defaults to 8?: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/t...ad-behavior-during-backup.118430/#post-513106

i can at least confirm that it is using more then 3 cores, as i have seen proxmox-backup process with >300% cpu usage on server side
