Hi all,

I have a running proxmox system but my mail server url has changed and so i need to change it in proxmox for it to send the mails the the right server... i just dont remember where this setting is in the web gui?

we use postix for sending email - reconfigure postfix with:

> dpkg-reconfigure postfix

or edit postfix config files directly.

ok so what you are saying is that when i installed proxmox i was asked about mail server settings? i have no recall how i set this up in the past :)

and would i need to do this on all my proxmox nodes? I have 3 in a cluster

the ISO installer configures almost all automatically, including postfix.

and yes, you need to re-configure this on all your three hosts.

Thanks Tom,

Its been so long ago i had forgotten :)

I will see if i get my backup mail tomorrow :)

ok i did as you said.. but my mails are still noget going through..

i can see in the log that they are being sent correctly but in my spam filter the domain is missing.

they should be send to Casper@dingit.dk but are showen with only Casper and a DNS domain error because the domain is missing.

here is the mail log:

I know that my spam filter would most likely block the mail no matter what.. but i wanted to just whitelist the sender and be over with it.. but because the to field in the mail is only "casper" and not "casper@dingit.dk" i don't get to do that. The mail format is wrong so it wont let me whitelist

any suggestions

So either fix your DNS or configure your receiving server to accept it anyways.

Hi Tom,

as i said the mail is recived by my frontend spam filter. The problem is my spam filter only sees casper not casper@dingit.dk ... and so it discards the email. It is not possible for me to whitelist because in the eyes of my spam filter the mail does not follow the propper smtp protocols because it has not @dingit.dk

but maybe its because i should configure postfix as a relay server and not a internet connection server or what ever it says in the menu?

your log shows:

Code:
Sep 25 02:49:01 proxmox00 postfix/smtp[136258]: 10CB317621A: to=<casper@dingit.dk>, relay=mxpool2.spamgateway.comodo.com[178.33.199.69]:25, delay=1.3, delays=0.21/0.06/0.63/0.43, dsn=5.0.0, status=bounced (host mxpool2.spamgateway.comodo.com[178.33.199.69] said: 550-Sender has no A, AAAA, or MX DNS records.

that means, mxpool2.spamgateway.comodo.com reject the email because of: 550-Sender has no A, AAAA, or MX DNS records

=> fix your DNS.
