houw to add a new disk to create OSD on CEPH?

I need to add a disk to create a OSD to CEPH.

I put SSD on server, and its appear by command line:

# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sdc: 4 TiB, 4398058045440 bytes, 1073744640 sectors
Disk model: 100E-00
Units: sectors of 1 * 4096 = 4096 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes

But on de GUI of Proxmox doesn't show the disk.



Which command line am i missing?

Did you click the reload button?

If that doesn't help, you could try wiping your disk and execute

pvesh get /nodes/proxmox-b1/disks/list

This should generally show the same disks as the GUI but might rule out some frontend errors.

Yes. It Doesn't work.

pvesh get /nodes/proxmox-b1/disks/list

Execute that and it doesn't work too.



I create a gpt on the disk, make no diference

# cfdisk /dev/sdc

so, I create a partition type Linux system on the disk and make no diference again

Do I need to restart node?

I will to test some other things, if anybody remember some clue about this.
At first, all the nodes are already configured as fallow:

- One disk SSD to proxmos install (sda)
- One disk SSD to CEPH (sdb)
- And now one more disk to add on CEPH (sdc)

All RAID at the disk controller was disabled because CEPH requirements.

Hey,

maybe you missed the "wiping your disk" part from Dominics answer. I never had problems with seeing disks.
Wiping the disk (search for zap) depends on your actual versions, if you already use ceph-volume or the "old" ceph disk tools. Be careful not to use wrong device strings.

Just to let you know about what's happening.
I figure it out that in the boot time, on disk controller menu, I had to get the physical disk and create a virtual disk with them.
So, the disk controller management the virtual disk.

After i did it, on proxmox the command line "fdisl -l" show a diferent model status.

Before
Disk model: 100E-00

After
Disk model: PERC_H710

Anyway, in the end, i will have to do in which node a reboot and create the virtual disk with them.
