Hotplug of CPU and RAM

Hi,

I have enabled NUMA and hotplug of Memory & CPU in options, but CPU hotplug is not working, when the VM is live. How to fix this?

Hi,
I think it's not possible to change the maximal number of sockets/cores while the VM is running. But you should be able to change the number of vCPUs on the fly (in the advanced section when editing CPU) when CPU hotplug is enabled. See here.

Yes, I have set the maximum no of cores and sockets, and changed the VCPU of running virtual machine. But the changes are not taking effect on fly. Tried with both windows and linux, It is not working. After shutdown only it is taking effect. Do I have to do any configuration for this.

It should work, if you:

1. Set the number of sockets/cores to the maximum you want to ever allow.
2. Reboot the VM.
3. From now on only modify the vCPU setting which should take effect immediately.

Changes are getting applied from VM hardware level, but it not reflecting inside the VM operating system.

Some Funny thing noted with Windows 2012 & 2016 VM , hotplug to increase RAM & CPU works. but the Keyboard in proxmox Console Stops working , one can mange it via RDP and get keyboard access in console only after VM is rebooted.

yup, i just replicated that here on windows server 2019 too - seems like a pervasive problem
