I'm choosing hardware platform now, it's already clear that system will be based on blades plus Netapp storages. Now, to decide which configuration of blades to buy for PVE hosts, I must understand if I'll be able to install PVE to iSCSI mounted partitions (blades support iSCSI/FC boot, so upon install I will see at least one scsi lun). If answer is yes, it would greately improve insfrustructure in terms of virtualization.
Thanks in advance.

ps my English is weird, i know, sorry for that.

The current beta does not work, but the upcoming 1.0 should work (will be available in a week). But please note, due to the fact that we have no blades with ISCSI/FC and no Netapp here in our test lab we cannot test this.

BTW, if you want to help us here, you can donate to upgrade our test lab.

We are very interested in supporting such configurations and we will put much efforts in this area the next months.

thanks for the quick reply. Will wait this week and take HW to test in this configuration.
Am I right and 1.x will support shared storage (NFS?) for virtual OS images?
Eagerly waiting for that.

1.0 will not support multiple storage, this is planned for later releases, see Roadmap.

But the Kernel 1.0 already includes:
- Qlogic HBA drivers (firmware) for iscsi and fc (also boot from these)
- DRBD 8.2.6

Still not clear, sorry, may be it's because English isn't my mother's language.
Will 1.x allow me to store my virtual machines on NFS mount? eg. does it work as a NFS client? So I can start VM from another host in a cluster in case of host failure (or just for fun) with minimal downtime. It would also ease backups greately.

no, support for shared storage is scheduled for 2.x: this means currently we have only local storage for VM´s.

So I can start VM from another host in a cluster in case of host failure (or just for fun) with minimal downtime. It would also ease backups greately.

Backup (full backups) is included in Proxmox VE 1.0 - very very easy to use.
