In order to store a VM backup to another server. I have configured on my PVE to mount a shared directory on my Synology NAS using SMB protocol
Everything seems to be normal, but when I open Synology's syslog, I find that the PVE host is constantly accessing my SMB shared folder at a high frequency
Checked the program running in the PVE and found that no files are accessing the SMB shared directory (no running backups, no virtual machines using ISO images and disk images on the SMB shared directory, no containers running in the SMB directory)
Finally I looked at the system logs of the PVE host and there was no mention of the SMB connection (except for mounts on system boot)

The following picture shows the syslog of my Synology NAS。

Those are healthchecks/probes. They are inconsequential to even the lowest end SMB server. The network rate/load is minimal. Its 1 probe every 10s. Hardly a single kilobyte is sent in exchange. Synology claims ability to sustain 6gb/s on some models.

Your should just ignore that as noise.

However, this seems to cause the hard disk in the Synology NAS to not hibernate

Thats a common complaint from home users in the forum, but of no concern to business/enterprise.

You can search forums to see if anyone had a good solution to it. Perhaps you can disable storage for the night (man pvesm).
I dont have a solution for you.
