High memory usage on 5.3

Hello All,

My latest thing I see is the very high memory usage on my Proxmox box.

I am running 2 linux vm's with memory ballooning turned on.

One is set to 512 to balloon up to 2gb <- this vm has a usb drive emulation turned on

and the other is set to 256mb to balloon up to 1gb

When I do a memory check it shows I am using 20gb out of the 32gb I have on my machine.

Did I do something wrong? or is this normal?

how does the host configuration look like?
do you have zfs ? if yes, it can take up to the half of your memory (in this case 16GB, + 1GB daemons + 3GB of your vms ~ 20GB)

Yes I do run ZFS. So would it be easier to buy a hardware raid controller and use it?

both have pros and cons, you have to decide for yourself what suits your workload/use-case
