Hi Proxmox Team,

today i update / reinstall to proxmox 1.4 from 1.3. During migration or Backup ( vzdump ) the host machine has a extreme high load. The highest uptime values was

load average: 72.93, 41.85, 21.39

At this time the some KVM System wasn't more accessible. I check a VM via VNC and get the following errors on screen:

Code:
BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 61s! [syslogd:1851]
[ 7255.206841] Modules linked in: ipv6 loop snd_pcm snd_timer snd soundcore snd_page_alloc parport_pc parport virtio_balloon pcspkr psmouse i2c_piix4 serio_raw button i2c_core joydev evdev ext3 jbd mbcache virtio_blk ide_cd_mod cdrom usbhid hid ff_memless floppy e1000 virtio_pci piix ide_pci_generic ide_core ata_generic uhci_hcd libata usbcore scsi_mod dock thermal processor fan thermal_sys [last unloaded: scsi_wait_scan]
Code:
pveversion -v
pve-manager: 1.4-10 (pve-manager/1.4/4403)
qemu-server: 1.1-8
pve-kernel: 2.6.24-16
pve-qemu-kvm: 0.11.0-2
pve-firmware: 1
vncterm: 0.9-2
vzctl: 3.0.23-1pve3
vzdump: 1.2-5
vzprocps: 2.0.11-1dso2
vzquota: 3.0.11-1
How i can fix this issue. Do i need change some Parameters on the VM ?
For me it seems that with Proxmox 1.4 the System has definitly a much higher CPU / IO usage then before.

Could the new testing kernel fix the issue ?

PS.
Your guys do a great work. thx

we cannot see any special performance difference in our test cycles til now. there are differences in the displays, but not in speed. if you do "exaclty" the same on 1.3 you will see quite the same performance.btw, if you use KVM, we just released a new version today (pvetest).
