I have recently moved away from esxi to proxmox.

I have a VM that is meant to collect info from a SPAN, the switch is all setup to push packets to the SPAN port.

the SPAN port is plugged into a physical nic on the server, but i'm not sure how to passthrough to the VM.

eth0 is the card that will be accepting the the SPAN packets. at the min in Proxmox is saying eth0 not active, can someone advise on how to get this NIC passed to the Alienvault VM.

so i have managed to get pci passthrough to the VM can now see that card and connect with it, but i dont think it is getting the full SPAN traffic, can someone show me where i need to change the settings so that the SPAN is setup correctly?

if you used pci passhrough for the NIC then the VM will have exactly the same hardware as a physical machine.
Are you sure tthe nic you passthroughed is properly hidden from the host ?
