Hi Everyone,

I need a little help with my Proxmox v1.3 box which is hosted at server.lu

2 Days ago my server went down so i emailed the data center and they told me that they had a power outage in the whole area, i finally got told today that the host was pin - able it was but i could not get in via ssh port 80 or 443. so a ticket was raised with the data center this was there reply
This is the reply from the support ticket

(root@rescue)-(~) $ cd /mnt/
(root@rescue)-(/mnt) $ ls
config-2.6.24-10-pve lost+found
config-2.6.24-7-pve memtest86+.bin
grub System.map-2.6.24-10-pve
initrd.img-2.6.24-10-pve System.map-2.6.24-7-pve
initrd.img-2.6.24-10-pve.bak vmlinuz-2.6.24-10-pve
initrd.img-2.6.24-7-pve vmlinuz-2.6.24-7-pve
(root@rescue)-(/mnt) $

This is the only thing I can see on this server... I guess I just found out why this server didn't came back.

Please reinstall this system or use the rescue console to fix this problem.
The server was working perfectly before there power outage( if there was one!)

im was running V1.3 as i needed dahdi for running pbxiaf servers i was very careful not to do any upgrades. this machine has Shorewall install as per The Montana Linux tutorial (dmz, net, firewall) i can Normally access port 22 via ssh even with the firewall in the down state.

I have access the the recovery console on this machine right now, but to be honest i don't really know how to fix this with the recovery console, or even where the problems lies, so anyone who can see whats going on here please help, as im a bit clueless on this matter.
This is the second time this has happened, at xmas they SAID the replaced the hard disk.

This server was running perfectly 4 days ago i have not changed anything since
It seems not to be loading the Proxmox image but as i said im not expert with this recovery console, even if i could get my customers data from the vm's i would be happy, a fix would be better but i don't know.

Without access to this machine no one will see whats the problem is. I am sure the provider got a rescue console documentation!?

another question: do you have a hardware raid controller with BBU? if not, a power failure can lead to data loss - hopefully you have a valid backup.

Well tom i would have thought so too, i asked last time and i was told by the company i brought the machine off "seedcafe" that they have no information on this recovery console, and remote hands would cost £35 per 15 mins i think it was.

There is no mention of a BBU when i brought the box so im guessing not, although it has raid, no there's no backup as it's a dedicated server that was due to be clustered today with another proxmox box.

£35 per 15 mins is quit normal. That is the reason why other people use RAID and a backup (to avoid to get into such situation).
