hello guys, so my server there are two HDs where the vms are, a separate HD where proxmox is installed. This hd failed in some blocks, I will need to upload a new HD with proxmox, which files do I copy so that when I upload the new ones, the old vms will already be configured.

I would backup the complete "/etc" folder. And in case "/etc/pve" is empty also the DB that stores the configs: "/var/lib/pve-cluster/config.db"

VM configs are stored in: "/etc/pve/qemu-server"
LXC configs in: "/etc/pve/lxc"
Storages in: "/etc/pve/storage.cfg"
Firewall rules in: "/etc/pve/firewall"
Network config in: "/etc/network/interfaces", "/etc/resolv.conf" and "/etc/hosts"

Thanks for your help, one more thing, the other two HDs that are the VMs, in the new vm I need to manually upload them through pv vg etc. how was it before correct? Then yes copy the old filesi it?

Easiest way would be to backup the whole guests using Vzdump or PBS to an external storage. That way you got a backup of the virtual disks and guest config that would be easily restorable on a new PVE installation.

But to use PBS, doesn't the machine to be copied need to be on and working? Because mine doesn't turn on due to the sectors with problems on the HD, but I can access the configuration files through another machine

Jup, vzdump/PBS need to be able to start the guests to back them up. Then you have to manually backup the LVs on block level for example with the dd command. Maybe there are also tools that make it a bit easier to backup/restore LVs similar to clonezilla.
