Help... upgraded Proxmox from 3.2 to 3.4

ok so i updated from 3.2 to 3.4 everything looked like it went well got the grub problems sorted and server rebooted

logged into the web ui went to start a VM and was hit by an error. long story short after 5 hours of bitching and hitting my keyboad iv found some packages really messed up.

iv enen gone as far as trying to install each modual on its own which dosnt work. tried apt-get -f install and all i get is a list of errors. im npt great with linux and stuff like this is why i stick to windows. :) sooner i can get this sorted the better :)

almost all problems come back to pve-qemu-kvm which i cant for the life of me get sorted iv tried uninstalling. installing on its own. purge. autoremove. remove. seemd to be stuck there but nothing can delete open or rewrite it. im getting to the point of reinstalling the whole server but it will take weeks to transfer all the data off it then back on

well managed to get somethin to happen i changed the sources.list and got this using the .at. repostory seems to eork better than official .debian..

ok so i. getting thdre slowly if anybody runs accross this sort of issue then the key is strange but change the source.list to

for some reson it now stops trying to fix it and simply removes almost all of proxmox (sounds bad but now you can build it back up)

oh my god i can safely say stuff it the other servers can stay at 3.2 im never upgrading anything again... i Hate Linux soooooo much. no wonder they give it away.

well im stuck. cant think of anyway to get this sorted now, spent all day trying to get it sorted and last command i tried looks like im going to be stuck in a loop. dont know if i got unlucky a bad repo or what but its cost me time and money now got the weekend to sort it if not just throw in the towel.

did you by chance try to install qemu from the debian repositories?


try doing:

dpkg -l qemu-utils*

(that's a lower case L btw, not a capital I)

and see if it shows something installed.

How exactly did you do the upgrade procedure from 3.2 to 3.4 initially?

Are you using the subscription repositories or non-subscription? If you're using non-subscription it looks like you're missing the entry from your sources.list file or did you create a file in sources.d? Was this an iso install of 3.2 or was it installed ontop of a debian install?

Doing a quick google search for qemu-utils actually indexed an older post here on the proxmox forums that will probably answer your question...:

i did the original update from proxmox webui but had the kvm open watching for errors its an OVH installation do im pretty sure its installed ontop of debian
im using non-subscription
and just editing /apt/sources.list
currently looks like

ok so qemu-utils was part of the problem. and a Huge pain in the a*" to remove in the end i had to take it back to a pretty bare proxmox kernel
i had to change the sources.list back to default debian

which removed all proxmox manager and server but also got rid of qemu-utils

Just got to re build all the proxmox software now and i should be good to go

instead of complaining about linux again and again, think a bit more about what you are typing and what you want to get:

i have no idea what suppose to be installed and its pretty hard finding a list of packages. sorry for getting in a mood. but it is anoying i dont even know what went wrong during the upgrade. no errors no restart everything looked like it went perfect. thats what anoying me about it, if i knew where it went wrong id build up from there. taken the whole system right back down to bare kernal about 5 times now.

Anyone around? still stuck. dtarting to think this installs just out to get me Xd its cursed i say currrsed.... (might be loosing it a bit)
