help please: pveceph purge fails

I'm trying to remove ceph on a node in a 4 node cluster before rebuilding the node.

I have destroyed the OSD, removed the manager and monitor from the node.

I removed the monitor IP's from storage.cfg

I ran: pveceph stop

Then ran: pveceph purge
and got: detected running ceph services- unable to purge data

ps -ef | grep ceph shows that no ceph processes are running.

The node is still shown in the crush map - I'm assuming that this was part of what the purge was attempting to achieve?

What am I doing wrong?

pveceph purge only works if the whole cluster is supposed to be decommissioned, as it removes the ceph files in /etc/pve as well. the service check actually just checks if the ceph cluster is reachable.
