Hi all, new to networking using proxmox.

I am trying to create a private network of three VMs (Win Server, Win 10 and Ubuntu), which is isolated from my actual LAN, similar to the Host-Only virtual network on VMware. So far I have created a new linux bridge on the node, seen below:

I then went into the Windows hosts and set the static ips as shown:

Win Server:

Win Client:

However, I was still unable to ping between the hosts.

I have looked online and found information regarding VLANs, but found them quite confusing in regards to requirements. Some guides required a physical switch or already established VLANs on the actual LAN. Others required multiple NICs on the proxmox machine. I do not have any of these.

I feel like I am missing something quite obvious here, so any help would be appreciated :)

I solved the problem by disabling the windows firewall on the host VMs.

I also removed the IP range from the linux bridge, but I don't think that this changed anything.

Hope this helps someone

im having a similar issue on setting this up also. Is everything working correctly now for you? Did you have to do something to the ubuntu vm?

I haven't tried using the Ubuntu VM yet. Perhaps check the ubuntu firewall or the interfaces file in /etc/network/ to ensure you've the the IP correctly

192.168.100.0 and 192.168.100.255 are not used,
because 0 and 255 are the broadcast ip addresses.
I'm surprised that Proxmox "accepts" this .0 as an actual useable address...
