HDD firmware update in VM (SATA-Controller is connected to vm via pci passthrough)

Hi,

is it possible to update a HDD firmware in a VM when the Sata-Controller is connected via pci passthrough?

What i wanna do is this:

boot to dos and then execute the exe file... Will it work?
