Hi all, first time poster, I not sure if this is the right place but I have a question about the hardware setup for my Proxmox box.

This is a home server, and I'm limited to 4 SATA ports and 2 M.2 slots on the mobo. the config I want to use is:
1x 120GB NVME drive for Proxmox install on one M.2.
1x 500GB NVME drive for Virtual Machines on one M.2.
4x4TB drives as a storage pool on the SATA ports.

Does/will proxmox have any issues installing to and recognising and using the NVME drives in this setup?

Thanks in advance.

If the M.2 drives are compatible with your mainboard, then they should be recognized without issue.

Keep in mind that some boards with 2 M.2 slots have one of them connected to the chipset instead of the CPU - not an issue per se, but might limit your throughput/latency for some higher end NVMe SSDs.

Best consult your mainboards manual for info on that.

Hi Stefan,
thanks for the quick response, good point Re: throughput i will check that out.
Thanks.
