I've tried to install Proxmox VE 1.5 (and then 1.4) both install fine, but on reboot they just hang with a flashing cursor. Nothing before that at all.

Hardware is a HP ML115 with an E200 smart array controller.

Any ideas?

did you have more than one array? please give all details about your disk/raid controller config.

Server has one E200 card with a single RAID 5 array (4 SAS disks). There's also a single SATA drive hanging of the motherboard (in a Caddy for off site backups).

CPU is an AMD Opeteron Quad Core (1352) with 8GB RAM
Ethernet is a on board Broadcom with a twin Intel NIC PCI card

That enough or do you need more?

Ok - had another go with this. Booted from a live CD and had a look at the partitioning - may have been trying to boot off a SWAP partition of the second drive - perhaps installer didn't check for boot partition flags? Shouldn't have done as is 2nd drive. Anyway, cleared both disks rewrote MBR and then removed second drive for the moment. Re-installed and we're flying.

Sorry to cause you any work if you'd already started poking around!
