Hi.

I am helping a friend setup a server that will run Proxmox.
Can I get some guidance and best possible setup for the following hardware configuration on Dell PowerEdge T550 server.

2 CPU - Intel Xeon Silver 4309Y 8C/16T
128gb MemoryPERC H755 SAS Raid Controller
2 x 3.84TB SSD SAS ISE (Primary active storage) (configure as Raid 1 mirror)
4 x 8TB 7.2K RPM SAS ISE (storage drive possibly setup as raid 1 mirror)
Broadcom 57416 Dual Port 10GbE BASE-T
Broadcom 5720 Dual Port 1GbE BASE-T Adapter
BOSS-S2 controller card + with 2 M.2 480GB (RAID 1) - OS Drive.

Should I be using a hardware raid configuration or a software?, if so then how is this best achievable and what setup would work best.

The drive setups I am not sure how and what I need to setup if go with hardware raid or software raid.

It will be presently hosting a domain controller and TrueNas.
Later some more App VMs will be setup as required.

I am beginner with proxmox and hence seeking some advice/guidance of the best possible setup.

Thanking in advance.

KP

Should show up in the Proxmox installer as a boot target. Was for me on a BOSS-S1 and showed up as DELLBOSS-VD.

As I had no response or understanding of what to do I am actually going to just try out this myself sometime this week or next week to see what works best.

@jdancer thanks, that gives me some hope :-)

@kbhuva Did you make it eventually? I'm preparing myself to use Proxmox on my new PowerEdge T560. What mistakes did you make so I could avoid them? :)

I plan to run:
- 1x vm with Windows with MS-SQL on it
- 1x vm Linux/Debian with postgresql on it
