Granular recovery

Good morning.

I would like to know if it is possible to perform granular recoveries through Proxmox backup.

That is, I would like to know if, for example, I make a backup of a file server, if I could recover only one specific file.

I would also like to know if it is possible to make backups of the database, to recover SQL backups without having to recover the whole machine.

In short, I would like to know if Proxmox Backup has different agents available, or alternatives to perform granular backups or recoveries without the need to recover a complete machine.

Hi,
in principle you should always be able to fetch only single files from a backup, but the method varies per type of backup and encryption.
For file based backups like the backup of a container or a backup created by the proxmox-backup-client you can just use the webinterfaces to navigate the filetree and download your file.

Backups of virtual machines and encrypted backups have to be handled with the proxmox-backup-client, if you only want to extract single files.
With that you can 'mount' the backup to your local filesystem and browse it, like it's part of your fs, without taking up space. For that you need a unix os though, but if you have, this feature is pretty cool.

That would be the proxmox-backup-client, it can create backups of files or folders.

If the filesystem, the vDisk of VM is formated with, is supported by PBS you can also browse the contents and download single files via the PVE webUI.
