I've recently setup up a Proxmox VE as I was planning and seeked guidance in this thread
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/physical-access-to-vms.111218/
Now, I have setup with a few changes and wanted to achieve the same result.
I've done all the steps to passthrough GPU as suggested in this guide
https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/b5xpua/the_ultimate_beginners_guide_to_gpu_passthrough/
But I've failed to achieve it even after 5 tries. Everytime I boot with a monitor attached to the onboard VGA and another on the GPU HDMI, both are duplicate until bios screen. As soon as it boots Proxmox the initial script runs inside the GPU attached monitor.
And subsequently even if I add the GPU as a PCIe device it doesn't show up both in windows and Linux.
One thing that was right out of the box was USB Passthrough, I easily added 2x Keyboard and 2x Mouse on 2 different VMs and both did good job.
Specs:
AMD Epyc 7542
128GB RAM ECC RDIMM
Supermicro H12SSL-I
2x Samsung 860 Evo 250gb for Proxmox boot (in ZFS RAID 1)
2x Sabrent Rocket Gen 4 500gb for VMs (in ZFS RAID 1)
