Hi,

I've been fiddling with Proxmox these past few weeks, and I like it very much. I have yet to discover Proxmox Backup Server. Before I dive head first into the documentation, one general question.

Can I use Proxmox Backup Server to handle remote incremental backups on hypervisors that are not based on Proxmox VE? For example, a public root server running Oracle Linux 7.9 with several Oracle Linux 7.9 VMs on top of it, using KVM (QEMU/Libvirt)?

Cheers,

Niki

no, special hypervisor integration is currently only available for PVE (the Qemu side requires patches & a special library that Qemu links). you can do file/host level backups from your hypervisor and inside your VMs - you won't get the benefits of fast incremental mode & consistency that you get with PVE VMs though.
