[SOLVED] fwupd with proxmox

Hi all

would installing fwupd from the debian repos on the system cause any issues with the natural operation of the system? as I would like to cron firmware autopatching.

Hello, fwupd will work as long as it can find the UEFI partition and the system has been booted using UEFI. There is a patch that adds a bit of info to our documentation about fwupd at [1].

May I ask what would be the best approach for updating the firmware?
Should all VMs of the physical host be powered off before doing the firmware update or can this be done "on-the-fly"?

As usual "that depends" on the firmware update. Most updates need an immediate reboot, so having everything ready for a reboot is good.
