Hello all, first and foremost I must mention I am a complete novice to both proxmox/linux, and networking. I'm attempting to install PVE 8.0 in effort to increase home network functionality. In the interest of learning and making do with what I have, I'm attempting to install PVE on an old Ivy-Bridge i7 machine, using the motherboard's NIC. I've got PVE installed but I am unable to complete configuration as I do not have the ability to access the machine via LAN. The machine is NOT found in my LAN Network map. NIC is enabled via bios. I'm currently using my ISP's 5G gateway, I have verified the LAN ports on the gateway are functional via other machines. This leads me to believe I have pve-setup-network.pngnot completed initial configuration properly. Attached here is the sample image from the setup guide.

Management interface: I assume this is the NIC.

To my understanding, as this is presently intended for LAN-only use, FQDN hostname can be an arbitrary hostname, correct?

IP Address: Static IP of the PVE machine within my LAN network? The address I set is NOT already populated within my network.

Subnet mask: This field is not present for me.

Gateway: I have not modified the factory gateway of my "router," So I'd assume this is the IP address of the "router" itself.

I'm assuming this issue is entirely operator error given my lack of experience. Thank you all in advance.

nearly arbitrary, it should be a valid fqdn otherwise there might be issues later (there are special tld that you can use at home, e.g. '.lan')

yes, the valid ip address you want the pve to have inside your subnet

Subnet mask: This field is not present for me.
what do you mean? you have to set the subnet to the one used in your network, e.g. if you use a /24 network (most common for home routers) you'd have to input '255.255.255.0'

Gateway: I have not modified the factory gateway of my "router," So I'd assume this is the IP address of the "router" itself.
yes the internal ip of your router

When I have the opportunity this evening i’ll
Double check that bit about the subnet mask. I need to spend more time learning more about subnets.

I may have to boot into another operating system to verify the NIC on this PC is functional. It’s been sitting unused for about a year now, it was having instability issues prior so I assembled a new PC.
