Hi guys,

Just installed Proxmox VE from a USB pendrive onto a USB SSD.

It appears I can only boot if the source pendrive remains connected. Removing the pendrive seems to not run Grub.

In the installation process I was only prompted to choose a drive to install the environment to, in which I chose the SSD.

Is there any option I missed? Will I have to manually copy the grub from the pendrive to the SSD?

Whatever the solution is, can you please provide detailed instructions? I'm a Windows power user but just now starting in Linux.

Thank you in advance

hi,

did you check your BIOS boot options?

I spent hours actually trying to get into the bios yesterday. For some reason the USB NVME kept denying the keyboard from responding. After I unplugged the disk I had access to the BIOS but couldn't change the boot options as the drive wasn't connected. Somehow it fixed itself today. Not sure if plugged into different ports or if the NVME drive case is having issues.

Today I can access the bios no problem but I don't need to change any settings as it's booting correctly. Still don't understand why having the pen in was working though.

Thank you
