Hello, I'm very, very new to Proxmox. I originally wanted to use ESXi, but I learned my CPU is too old for v7.0 so I turned to Proxmox VE instead.

I put a fresh install of Proxmox on a home server I have and it goes through the installation just fine. But, when first booting it up, it prints some things on the screen, ending with "ipmi_si dmi-ipmi-si.0: Could not set up I/O space" before I get a No Signal message from my monitor indefinitely.

I was wondering if anyone knows of possible reasons as to why this is happening and how I could fix it? I've tried searching this error and I can't find much information.

My specs are:
  • Intel Xeon X3450 CPU
  • Supermicro X8SIE-F motherboard
  • 16GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC RAM
  • 2x 500GB HDDs (where I installed Proxmox), 1x 750GB HDD
Thanks so much!

(Attached is an image of my monitor with all that it prints out before it goes completely dark)

hi,

the error might be a red herring in this case.

* is the host online when you see "No Signal" from the monitor, i.e. can you ping/ssh/access web gui?

* what graphics card do you have?
