Hello Everyone
I went first on some other threads here on the forums with similar questions, that when removing older snapshots the free space available won't change. Most of the answers were that if some chunks are used or shared with older infos they won't be free, only if the garbage collection is used after those deletions.
So I went on this path:
- reconfigured the prune & GC to lower retentions
- went to content / prune all, selected only "keep last 3" to ditch all other backups above this range
- removed some snapshots manually on the vms to stay with only the 1 copy / count
- went back tp prune & gc, started the garbage collection manually
even after those steps, I have the same free space available on the datastore. The "estimate full" field is showing "never", but it used to have a prediction of about 80 days after we setup all backups to be made on this PBS instance.
Question is:
- The estimate full being "never" is already counting that data will not grow with newer snapshots?
- How to see / free space after snapshot removal, garbage collection and prune was made on the datastore?
- witch of the real steps to free space on the datastore?
for reference an output of the manual garbage collection:
