Hi,

i have a cert from letsencript on my pbs
everytime the cert is renew i have to update all clients :(

as client i have
  • PVE
  • Linux hosts (via proxmox-backup-client)
what is the best way to do not have update client every 3 month ?
also is there a way to get notify when proxmox-backup-client fail ?

Thanks

hi,

if you have a certificate from let's encrypt you can just leave the fingerprint empty in your storage config, since the cert is already signed by a CA that is trusted by your server.

Thanks i will try that .

any tips on my second question ?
Thanks in advance

if you've set a backup schedule on your PVE to PBS, then you should automatically get emails about the backups (the email address of the root@pam is used)

see the attached screenshot.

Thanks
So the field send email to is not used ?
I may need to troubleshoot this then, since i dont think i am getting anything.

but my question was more on get notify when proxmox-backup-client fail ?
when used on a single host (not PVE)

that's also used.

you can select the "on-failure only" option.

when used on a single host (not PVE)
currently the mail notification is supported through the scheduled tasks [0]

beware that the PVE and PBS send separate notifications if both are activated

there is no such option , unless mistaken or i have a old version ?
see the picture on my previous post, that's what i meant (it's on PVE).

i've answered your other question:

thanks Oguz
but i think we are talking of 2 different things :)
you keep sending me to the web interface , when i am talking of the client , you can use on Linux host
PVE have a backup function included....
there is a proxmox-backup-client who is completly command line and do not require PVE ...

yes... and the backup client does not send notifications (the backup server does, and also PVE, both within the scheduled tasks).

you can make a feature request on our bugtracker if you wish. [0]

but to have notifications from the client in the meantime, you'd probably have to write a wrapper script around it that sends you an email or so. (for example)

Great i will open the feature request
and on the mean time will write the wrapper....
just asked before in case it already exist... did not want to reinvent the wheel

thanks for all the patience :) with me poorly explaining what i want :)
