Hi,

I've been a long time happy user of Proxmox, untill we decided to move to ovirt. Now that Proxmox is able to work with LXC, we're considering adding a Proxmox cluster.

One of the questions I have, can't find the answer: if using containers and requesting a backup, will proxmox create a tar of the container (like in the old days) or will it use the snapshot capability of the underlying filesystem (if available)?

I don't want to work with local storage, for failover purposes. What would the recommended storage be? We have a ZFS cluster available, able to export over NFS & iSCSI. Would ZFS on top of an iSCSI be the way to go?

Also - what is the maximum size of a proxmox cluster these days?

Hi,

"tar of the container (like in the old days)"
yes

"the snapshot capability of the underlying filesystem (if available)?"
yes

Would ZFS on top of an iSCSI be the way to go?
yes would be a way or ceph server on PVE.

what is the maximum size of a proxmox cluster these days?
we are supporting 32 nodes but do not limit them.
So the max dependent on some factors.
