Hello!

Please let me describe, what my project is about:

I want to build a HA-cluster with 2 identical servers and proxmox ve using drbd, pacemaker and so on. :cool:

When the main server goes down, i'll get a stonish from the second server.
Then the second server should reconfigure itself using all the config from the first one (backing up originals and overwriting with the others), then reboot itself and after reboot beeing a complete clone of the first.

Which files, databases, etc. need to be (repeatedly) replicated on the backup server? :confused:
What I actually mean is, where or in which files is the configuration of the Proxmox VE stored?

I hope you can help me.

When my solution for this is completed, i'm gonna write a howto for the wiki. ;)

we are currently working on HA, you can expect first beta in Q1/2010 (see roadmap). from what I see already, you can expect a lot cool features.

as soon as we have a beta, you are invited for testing.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

Will there be HA for OpenVZ-Containers, too? (Can't find anything about that in the roadmap)

So this is what my question is about --> Trying to creat a HA-Cluster working with OpenVZ, too.

I just need to know which configuration files need to be replicated (or copied) to another machine (with pre-installed pve) to be a clone of another pve-server.
I know /var/lib/vrz/* needs to be replicated recursivly --> I'm doing this with drbd

But where is the configuration(vm setup, certificate, etc.) of proxmox ve stored? Is it all available in /etc? Or are there more locations? What are the exact locations/filenames?

What I exactly whant to do is:

1. Geting a PVE setup on two similar servers. --> done.
2. Having a HA drbd-replicated storage (master/secondary) of /var/lib/vz/* --> done.
3. Using heartbeat/pacemaker/stonith for HA --> done.
4. When the master node fails the secondary becomes a clone of the master by copying backups of the master's pve config (interfaces, vm config, hostname, etc.) over the secondary one's. --> working on it.

So please, someone let me know where to find the PVE config files/database.

What do you want to know exactly about this?
Please tell me so I might help you.

A good beginner's tutorial is to find here:http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-and-configuring-openfiler-with-drbd-and-heartbeat

Using this tutorial I was building the first skeleton of my HA-Cluster.
thanks, i'll give it a read... i was hoping you could explain your installation, and publish your already made conf files for us to start with... even drbd, are you using an adapted drbd file based on the one in this site wiki, or modified it? I've asked if it could be enhanced, optimized in any way, without answers as you can see :(

so, any help or starting point is much appreciated... ;)
