Hi all,

I have an issue where we have to restore an compare a large directory structure from an proxmox-backup-client filesystem backup.

Many file- or directorynames in the filesystem and in the backup contain "german umlauts".

When we download the zip file from the PBS Restore UI the filenames are presented correctly but those "german umlauts" are cryptic chars after downloading an extracting the zip file.

When we extract the files on windows to compare with winmerge we get so many differences due to non matching filenames.

I.e. german "Jubiläum" becomes "Jubil├ñum"

What are we doing wrong ?

Any help or ideas are welcome

Regards
Joachim

yes I will open a bug report but in the meantime I found a solution that is working for me and maybe some others reading this. proxmox-backup-client is able to mount a snapshot in the vm where I took the backup and when I mount it there no issues with "german umlauts" exist in the mounted filesystem.
