fetchmail is not running

I want to upgrade to the new mail gateway 8, made a backup of my 7.1.1 and restored it to a new installed vm.
The fetchmail service has the status "excited". I have no idea how to activate it.
I tried a clean 7.3 and 8.01 again without restoring the backup and the status of fetchmail is every time "excited" and cannot be started.
Is the an option to activate it correctly?

Any ideas?
Do you use fetchmail? i.e have you configured any IMAP/POP3 accounts in your PMG?
else the service just exits - so this is not really problematic if you don't have any accounts configured.
I imported the fetchmail accounts over the backup restore function, but this do not enable fetchmail.
I had to edit one entry - save it - start the service again - and

it works !!!
