I understand that proxmox is just a base system setup for mail gateway product and it will work well when you need few hosts but when dealing with hundred(s)? I think core setup system and management interface would need to be split, it would be way better system. I would like to see this implementation:

- minimal base system setup, without apache, just pvedaemon and/or other basic tools that are needed for remote management.
- the management interface installed as separate KVM/OpenVZ(openvz is preferred but if it needs to go, then KVM should be okay?).
- split core setup into two(or three) setup systems: only KVM, dual KVM/OpenVZ and just your basic i386 OpenVZ.
- also a way to build install cd/USB stick with custom kernel, so proxmox could be deployed on non-standard hardware and with drivers typically not included on public releases.
- management interface compatible with single sign on system such as CAS(http://www.jasig.org/cas), openid and ADS/LDAP/kerberos.
- LVM Storage Management(create/resize and move around logical volumes on hosts)
- Custom configuration templates for guest systems that are visible to users, such as recommended hardware setup config like e1000 nic, ide controller and etc.

I think if those features would be implemented it will create nearly perfect cost effective virtualization platform. I wont go in to details of each individual feature but people who undenstand this will know the benefits those can create. I been playing allot with proxmox and in my opinion it just does not meet needs of a medium or large businesses, probably because of lack of some features listed above but its great system for small organization. XEN and maybe openqrm might be better alternative right now?

this is wrong. Proxmox VE is a standalone product - not related to the Mail Gateway.

and it will work well when you need few hosts but when dealing with hundred(s)? I think core setup system and management interface would need to be split, it would be way better system. I would like to see this implementation:

the main feature and the main focus of Proxmox VE is integration - the opposite you describe here. its still not feature complete but this will happen this year.

- also a way to build install cd/USB stick with custom kernel, so proxmox could be deployed on non-standard hardware and with drivers typically not included on public releases.

Custom kernel is possible, just do it - but then you loose major features - stable and widely used kernel and you have no support from Proxmox and the community.

- management interface compatible with single sign on system such as CAS(http://www.jasig.org/cas), openid and ADS/LDAP/kerberos.

yes, similar features are already on our todo list.

- LVM Storage Management(create/resize and move around logical volumes on hosts)

our LVM management in the GUI is suitable for most situations, the future is cloud storage. So we accept that detailed LVM management needs basic access linux CLI know how.

- Custom configuration templates for guest systems that are visible to users, such as recommended hardware setup config like e1000 nic, ide controller and etc.

I think if those features would be implemented it will create nearly perfect cost effective virtualization platform. seems that you do not understand Proxmox VE if you compare it with XEN or openqrm. you can compare XEN with KVM and openqrm with all other management interfaces but neiter XEN or openqrm is comparable to Promox VE.

Proxmox VE is the summary of future proof Linux technologies in a supported and easy to use product. if you want to compile your own kernels then I see limited benefit for you to use Proxmox VE.

thanks for your feedback.

Many thanks for your feedback. I will keep those suggestions in mind. But we currently work hard to get feature complete, i.e. a new cluster framework (corosync), ha, user management, ... (see roadmap).
