Expand Storage with Second Hard Drive

Hello,

I am a newbie with this system. I have installed the software with the bare metal ISO. Will someone please help me with a step by step on adding a second hard drive to the system so that is expands the existing out of the box storage.

The question is: How do want to use this additional HDD? For backups, for OpenVZ, for KVM guests (LVM) ...

I want the new drive to be used for the same thing the current drive does, basically everything except backups. Is there a way to make it seem as if the first drive is just larger? I don't need to choose where everything is going, just want one pool of storage.

Extend the existing VG with vgextend (see LVM docu).

But this is not a save setup, you should use a reliable hardware raid controller.
