Hello Proxmox forum!

I'm currently on the process of migrating from ESXI to Proxmox, and so far everything runned fine.
I'm getting each of my VMs with ovftool from ESXI to Proxmox, then importing them with "qm importovf MV-ID path-of-OVF storage".

I'm facing an issue with one VM that has multiple disks.

The command ends up with :
error during import, cleaning up created resources...
disk image '/mnt/pve/nfs-saturn/images/113/vm-113-disk-0.raw' does not exist
disk image '/mnt/pve/nfs-saturn/images/113/vm-113-disk-1.raw' does not exist
import failed - cowardly refusing to overwrite existing entry: ide0

Proxmox : Virtual Environment 6.4-13

Here's the full log :

The OVF is attached.

Any way to debug it?

PS: Process is smooth with single disk VMs.

Thanks for your time!

I think the issue might be related to IDE Controller. On ESXI, disk were assigned to IDE 0:0, IDE 0:1, IDE 1:0, etc...

For some reason Proxmox seems to not accept it...

After adding manuel disks, I get the following error message after adding the 4th IDE disk, my OVF has 4 IDE disks

Parameter verification failed. (400)

ide4: property is not defined in schema and the schema does not allow additional properties

The reason is indeed that in Proxmox there are no multiple IDE controllers possible - at least not from the GUI.

I had the same issue with that darn ipva migration. I edited te ovf file that I got from ovftool in two places. Disk 3 and 4 would be on IDE 1:0 and IDE 1:1 in ESXI, respectively. However, it has to go to IDE 0:2 and IDE 0:3 on Proxmox. I picked IDE controller "4" as the parent for all disks. So just change the rasd:AddressOnParent IDs to and the rasd: Parent IDs accordingly:

XML:
<Item>
        <rasd:AddressOnParent>2</rasd:AddressOnParent>
        <rasd:ElementName>Hard Disk 3</rasd:ElementName>
        <rasd:HostResource>ovf:/disk/vmdisk3</rasd:HostResource>
        <rasd:InstanceID>9</rasd:InstanceID>
        <rasd:Parent>4</rasd:Parent>
        <rasd:ResourceType>17</rasd:ResourceType>
        <vmw:Config ovf:required="false" vmw:key="backing.writeThrough" vmw:value="false"/>
      </Item>
      <Item>
        <rasd:AddressOnParent>3</rasd:AddressOnParent>
        <rasd:ElementName>Hard Disk 4</rasd:ElementName>
        <rasd:HostResource>ovf:/disk/vmdisk4</rasd:HostResource>
        <rasd:InstanceID>10</rasd:InstanceID>
        <rasd:Parent>4</rasd:Parent>
        <rasd:ResourceType>17</rasd:ResourceType>
        <vmw:Config ovf:required="false" vmw:key="backing.writeThrough" vmw:value="false"/>
      </Item>

However I still don't get it to boot afterwards ... it's stuck on "Booting from Hard disk" ...
