Hello everybody

One of our customers has problems with his backups. The server are let unmanaged, but backups are somewhere in the grey zone as we offer 1TB of Backup storage space per physical server and he is using our backup server. I am going to post some of the error messages. Note that only a part of the backups does not work. I estimate about 1/4 of the vms are afflicted.

VMIDNAMESTATUSTIMESIZEFILENAME
106vm106FAILED00:00:12VM 106 qmp command 'backup' failed - backup connect failed: command error: Unable to acquire lock "/var/log/proxmox-backup/tasks/.active.lock" - Interrupted system call (os error 4)

I googled for it but found only one hit, which redirected to this forum. I will start posting data and you just tell me what you need, additionally, to diagnose the problem.

pveversion -v
proxmox-ve: 7.4-1 (running kernel: 5.15.102-1-pve)
pve-manager: 7.4-3 (running version: 7.4-3/9002ab8a)
pve-kernel-5.15: 7.4-1

Unfortunately I could not find an equivalent of "pveversion" on pbs. Is there a way to collect all the necessary data?

Yours sincerely
Stefan

Hi!
there is `proxmox-backup-manager version --verbose true` for pbs!
If you could paste the syslog for pbs during the failing backup, that would help.
Also make sure that you are running on a recent version!

Edit: do you know how many backups were running simultaneously when the error occurred?
