Hello everyone, I wanted to know if it is possible to make an emergency backup to a USB disk by mounting on the fly and then disassembling it and taking it away.

Thank you

what do you mean by emergency backup?

you can create a datastore on the usb drive and use 'localhost' as a remote to sync some backup groups to the usb-drive

Thank you for responding. By emergency I mean the autonomy of taking a USB disk with me, download the data and take it elsewhere.

There are several tools that you could install to automount a USB Disk as soon as it gets plugged in. You can than create a "directory" storage pointing to that mountpoint and use it for Vzdump backups.

Thank you for responding, but what I meant was to have the option such as mount/dev/sdax (usbdisk) on PBS download or synchronize all backups and then disassemble it eg. umount /folder/usbdisk. That's all. Thank you
I forgot, I would add: for example, in Synology through additional apps, you can synchronize nas or other backups and make a rescue program on an external disk and then then take it away. I know that PBS belongs to a different category, but I ask that the idea of being able to implement it would not be bad ...

Should work too. You just need to copy over the folder of the datastore instead.

You can't backup single guests, just the complete datastore with everything because of the deduplication. So you need to copy the complete "/mnt/datastore/ZFS_STORAGE" folder.
