Good morning, everyone!
I'm running a Proxmox Version 8.0.3 that isn't sending emails, I've already downloaded the libsasl2-modules, changed the sasl_passwd file and created a hash, but it seems like something is missing.
In the log, I found the following information:

"Mar 23 07:38:46 PVE01-VR postfix/smtp[3178219]: D58C31EB0D: host smtp.quick.com.br[191.6.216.100] said: 450 4.1.8 <root@PVE01-VR.localdomain>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found (in reply to RCPT TO command)
Mar 23 07:38:46 PVE01-VR postfix/smtp[3178219]: D58C31EB0D: to=<cgr@quick.com.br>, relay=smtp.quick.com.br[191.6.216.99]:587, delay=2100, delays=2099/0.06/0.25/0.02, dsn=4.1.8, status=deferred (host smtp.quick.com.br[191.6.216.99] said: 450 4.1.8 <root@PVE01-VR.localdomain>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found (in reply to RCPT TO command))"

It looks like he's using my PVE name as his email domain name, but I can't find anywhere how to undo that...

host smtp.quick.com.br[191.6.216.99] said: 450 4.1.8 <root@PVE01-VR.localdomain>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found (in reply to RCPT TO command))"

this is the issue
the value is taken out from the /etc/hosts

  • First, it will check the DNS of the requesting mail server and sees if the HELO domain (origin domain) matches that machine's IP
  • Next, it will check the reverse DNS of the the requesting server to make sure it can match that IP to the domain in question

Okay, I checked this as per your indication. But this is the hostname of my PVE, which already in Cluster with another Node, performing the change to an e-mail can cause some unavailability?

In this case, would I have to have a URL linked to an email address to use this feature?

# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
10.80.81.38 PVE01-VR.local PVE01-VR

Hello everyone, good afternoon!

I changed the domain name of my PVE nodes in the Host file, but it still didn't work. I'm getting a similar log, I even tried using a gmail but to no avail.

Does anyone have any tips, please?

its a different error messages

530-5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first.

The server response was: 5.7. 0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first: This error means that the transport layer security (TLS) needs to be set to "Yes" in your SMTP settings. The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated.
