Hi! Have been struggling with this problem for days now. I have detected two different problems in my home network, sorry for using a thread for two questions but I think they could be related. didnt knew if the problem was on OPNSense, my Switch or Proxmox, but days have passed and the problems always appear when I am on Proxmox so I am writing here begging for help

Problem 1: each time I change my Linux Bridge option to "vlan aware" my internet SPEED ("just" speed) becames insanely slow (from 1gb fiber connection to 10/10+- connection). The problem is, if I untick the "vlan aware" option the slow speed continues. Rebooting doesnt work, I have to format and start from scratch. I know is totally nonsense, have erased my PC many times those days and reinstall and always happens when I click on that option.

Problem 2: I have a VM with OPNSense working perfectly, using 4 Linux Bridges. I can create containers no problem. If I give them one of the Linux Bridges that are in use cannot start the CT without losing all connection. Have to reboot so cant figure what is happening.

Something about my network...Proxmox is installed on a brand new machine. The motherboard has an intel nic and I have a PCI intel 350 network card too. The motherboard nic is just plugged to the switch so I can manage Proxmox without further configuration. I create 4 Linux Bridges using the 4 NIC on the PCI card for opnsense: wan, lan, vlan and dmz ("lan" is just for emergencies in case something goes wrong so I can plug a cable and change config, "dmz" is not in use at all now, just for a future project) .
The idea is using the "vlan" bridge for another vm and containers (photo provided with the configuration before system hangs).

Don't know if its important at all (don't think so), my ISP gives internet on a vlan (832), I just configure it later on OPNSense without any problem.

I am using brand new created Proxmox ISO, just installed and updated, "nothing weird" (in Proxmox I am using a very basic setup with just 2 vlan until the problems are solved).

Hope someone can help me, this is totally out of my knowledge and dont know what to do.

Thanks a lot in advance.

PD: sorry for using photos and not pasting code, I am a "GUI guy" and all my configuration is done on the GUI.

EDIT1: forgot to add a configuration photo, all my new bridges got same setup without "vlan aware" (I think I dont need to use that option in my setup and each time I click on it my internet speed changes to worse by a lot, cannot revert back unticking nor rebooting)

Did you verify that your i350 is genuine? A very big percentage of those sold on ebay (especially shipped from china) are fakes. See here: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/comparison-intel-i350-t4-genuine-vs-fake.6917/

Your PVE config looks fine.
First of all absolutely thank you for the response, all help is welcome.

Didn't knew there was so many fake cards. Mine is chinese, I bought from Amazon i350t4. Had lot of (apparently) good legit reviews in all worldwide amazon shops. Have been working without problems until today (I still think the problem is about my configuration, not the card).

Reviews on amazon don't really mean anything as you can easily buy good reviews from bots or even real humans. So you still might want to check it next time your open your server. Mine for example got a holographic Yottamark sticker and you can type in the code on that sticker on the Yottamerk Website to check if that NIC is genuine.

You might also want to use the search function of the forum. I've read a lot of threads the past weeks about very slow internet speeds while LAN speed is fine. So maybe that slow internet is a general software problem.

After another batch of erasing PCs, trying all kind of configurations and reading wikis I think I have "solved" the problem (or better say, I have found workarounds for my problem).

Problem1: after trying with another NICs I found I could always replicate this behavior just messing around in the node network tab with the GUI interface and clicking on the "vlan aware" option. I can do the initial setup no problem, if later I want to change that parameter my internet speed enters in a very degraded state (from around 1GB to around 10-20mbs). Only happens when I click on "vlan aware" option. The big thing here is...the problem doesnt dissapear clicking again, nor rebooting the machine: I need to format.
Solution1: just do the initial setup once, don't mess with that option later. I guess it doesnt happen using the CLI but I haven't tested.

Problem2: In my network plan I tried to use a Linux Bridge (though it acted as a normal switch) for OPNSENSE VLANs and another bridge for WAN. Then I wanted to add some containers and VMs using the same bridge OPNSense VLANs is using, but they were acting weird (for example they could ping everywhere, internet too, but were blocked for internet updates).
Solution2: Don't know if its something on Proxmox, something on OPNSense or just something I didn't setup ok (probably it's my fault). In my case I cannot use same Linux Bridge passed to the PFSENSE VM to do the networking of CTs and VMs inside proxmox.
The workaround in this case was just using another bridge for my Proxmox containers and VMs (it's working perfectly I must say)

EDITED: English is not my mother tongue, edited to correct some typos and make the text more clear.
