Have Proxmox 8 with Windows 11 as VM, clients are thinlinx/stratodesk are on a Pi4. I need to be able to copy DVD's (Files only, not media) to the network drive. Managed to get a SATA internal DVD working (on Proxmox8) but files were corrupt and would not copy. Also tried an external USB C Type on the proxmox server but when I tried to add it as a USB device notting wouls show up, even in shell lsusb notting. I'm going to try add the external USB to the Pi4 probably work that way but maybe slow.

Ideally what I want is a DVD on a NAS box with an RJ45 network port that can be picked up by the Windows VM, anyone heard of snything like that? many thanks in advance.

Maybe USB/IP, if it is supported by your NAS and your Windows. It works fine with OpenWRT and Proxmox for my TV tuner.
The DVDs don't have any encryption? A video DVD also looks like a bunch of files but impossible to read without using libdvdcss and cannot be passed to a VM via the usual virtual optical drive.
A USB device not showing up can sometimes be solved by using a powered USB hub in between (as the motherboard USB-C might not provide enough power, insufficient voltage or other compatibility issues).

You can't use the real Proxmox VE on a Pi4, so there is may be some bugs in your software.
The supported Proxmox VE can only run Intel or AMD CPU.

Is the plug-in recognized by dmesg? If not, maybe the drive does not have enough power?

Do you need to change the media often? If not, I'd recommend to rip the media and just provide iso files.
