Hello, sorry for the dummy question: I have two physical server, does I need ZFS filesystem on both Proxmox Virtual Environment and Proxmox Backup Server for backing?
Or I can leave Proxmox PVE with local-lvm volume and install the new Proxmox PBS from scratch with ZFS?

Optional question: can I convert local-lvm only to ZFS filesystem?

Yes, you can keep your LVM on the PVE side and use ZFS on your PBS.

What do you mean by 'convert local-lvm to ZFS'?

When you install Proxmox PVE on a single hardware RAID volume it create:
- 100GB for root operating system "/"
- remaining space "local-lvm"

Can i format or convert or destroy and recreate this "local-lvm" with ZFS filesystem?

ZFS on a RAID controller is not recommended. With a hardware RAID below it, you don't actually gain much by switching from LVM thin to ZFS.
