Hi everybody, I newbie in this world o Proxmox, I read a lot and I see tutorials about Proxmox and OPNSense. So I can say this world is amazing, and I have some dudes about It's running the device components when It's added to a VM (RAW Device). In my case I have two Physical Ethernets, so the first connection I used to wan and I prefer to use raw device inside de VM (I supposed the best option) and the second I create a bridge (vbmr1) over the physical lan connection. Then the OPNsense instance run perfectly, I have connection to WAN (out) and LAN (in) without problem. But in the proxmox node the raw device(WAN) disappeared and the node have not connection to out, also I can't update or check with ping to outside.

Do you know what can i do to fix it this issue?

Thanks in advance.

When passing through a PCI device like a NIC into a VM that device is exclusively managed by that guestOS so no other VMs nor the PVE host can use that device any longer.
So you either need more NICs or dont pass it through and work with virtio virtual NICs.

Thanks for your answer and solve the problem.

So In my case, I have two ways. As far as I am aware:

1. Before start the VM use the proxmox PVE host to update him (for example).

2. Convert the WAN interface to virtual using vmbrX new interface.

Whats do you think is the best option?.

Non of those. Usually you would buy a third NIC that the PVE host would use to access your LAN.

Or you only passthrough the WAN NIC and use virtual NICs for your LAN, so PVE + guests + your OPNsense could share the same NIC for accessing the LAN.
