Dry run mode

I am sat wondering how much space I will need for my PBS backup storage.

What would be really good is a dry-run mode where you could run the backup and it will go through all of the reading of the vms and lxcs but just report back what the size of the resulting storage would be when it is done for real.

Maybe that exists or maybe it is too hard to implement but it would be amazing if it were to exist.

Yes, that's an interesting and possibly frustration avoiding idea.

This forum is mainly used by community members (though actively supported by several staff members, thanks!) so to make the actual developers aware of this idea you may put it on https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/ as a "Feature request". (Not as an actual bug.)

Best regards

is slightly incorrect, almost all staff members here are *actual developers* ;)

nonetheless, adding feature requests/bug reports in the bugzilla is a good idea, since it makes it much easier for us to track/assign/etc. them
