DRBD without thin provisioning

I would like to know is it possible to use DRBD9 without thin provisioning?
Are there other ways of configuration exist, that are not described in the article?
For example can I use ext4 file system created on DRBD9 volume and use qcow2 files on it?

No. You have to use a raw disk image because the file systems (such as ext4) are not written to support multiple nodes mounting them.
